Serena Williams X Berlei
Dancing at its best is a celebration of self. Berlei “Do it for yourself” was created to encourage women to invest in themselves.
Serena had danced on Berlei shoots for years, off camera, so we knew it was something she genuinely loved. She mixed dance into her tennis training regime, and had even designed a dance competition with her sister, the Williams Invitational.
It was this sense of the inner self we wanted to capture in this content – both the essence of Serena and Berlei, a brand that honours and supports women. We also knew Serena was a big fan of 80’s music. The Donnas take of Billy Idol’s famous song was the perfect fit. The Indomitable Paola Morabito brought her incredible directing skills to the table to bring this campaign to life, and the extraordinary choreography was created by Mecca Andrews, who works with Ryan Heffington. The ad was created in partnership with Emotive.
Women responded to the authenticity of the spot and the numbers spoke for themselves..There was 100% increase in sell through, 137% increase in online sales, 7% consideration increase, and the content truly engaged with women, with 15.2 million views, and a 4.17% engagement rate. We won a silver at the B +T awards for best content campaign.
